The new Brimbank Community and Civic Centre is setting a high benchmark for future regional developm

Located in the heart of Melbourne’s west, Sunshine is the fastest growing region in Australia and has been named by the Victorian Government as a Metropolitan Activity Centre and an emerging National Employment Cluster. As a regionally important centre, it’s no surprise that a major project currently underway within Sunshine is already setting a high benchmark for future regional development, in terms of quality design and construction.

The purpose built $52 million Brimbank Community and Civic Centre in Hampshire Road is mid way through construction (as the pictures below show) and will include a library, customer service centre, a range of community meeting and exhibition spaces, and a local history interpretive centre. The stunning architectural design by Lyons Architects will definitely turn heads when complete, combining traditional brickwork with contemporary architectural features to create a visually stunning result.

Lyons Architects has skilfully grounded this magnificent structure by selecting Red Rustic brick facing tiles for the lower floor of the building, which seamlessly blend with the surrounding architecture. The tiles were inlaid in to concrete panels by Westkon Precast, using Robertson Façade System’s proven brick inlay system, allowing Westkon Precast to supply concrete panels to the building site already clad with bricks so that Kane Constructions could not only progress the project quickly and efficiently, but also save the time and disruption of having a tiler on site.

The eagerly awaited completion of Brimbank Community and Civic Centre should occur towards the last quarter of this year.

So stay tuned. We’ll be posting photos of this magnificent structure once complete for you to admire and enjoy.
